The Village of Westmont, IL. has once again resurrected The Blue Village for their 2005 Taste Of Westmont festival. July 9, 2005 has been declared Blue Village Night!, and this will prove to be another magical, special night for all. The Cryan' Shames were the Blue Village's house band back in the 1960's, so this concert is an absolute must to attend. The Shadows of Knight , The Mauds, and Jamestown Massacre will also be performing along with The Cryan' Shames. Jim Pilster has requested that fans bring pictures and stories to the concert for display to rivive the atmosphere. He also invites everyone to come and enjoy the fun and relive memories. BLUE VILLAGE UPDATE
The July 9th, 2005 Blue Village concert had over 1000 fans attend (as expected!), and it was an awesome concert. The Cryan' Shames were in top form, and their energy could be literally felt in the air. It is easy to see why The Cryan' Shames were the Blue Village's house band in the 1960's. This was another Magical Night for everyone.

CHICAGO GOLD CONCERTS 2005

Dennis Conroy was at the April 9th, 2005 Chicago Gold Concert in Merrilville, IN. where he signed autographs for the Shames fans (See Diane and Marlene's report on the April 9th & 16th, 2005 Chicago Gold Concerts). We all had a very enjoyable evening visiting with The Buckinghams , The Ides' Of March, and our very own Cryan' Shames after the concert. The Concert was an awesome performance for all three Chicago Gold bands, and they proved once again that they are ALL Solid Gold!.
Our special thanks to The Buckinghams {it is rumored that Carl Giammarese, Tommy Scheckel & Bob Abrams converted our very own webmistress "Babs" into a loyal Bucks fan}, The Ides' Of March {Chuck Soumar and Jim Peterik who kept us smiling and laughing}, and The Cryan' Shames {Jimmy P. for the back stage passes and hospitality, and Dennis Conroy, Rocky Penn and Bob Stroud for keeping the evening fun}.
While The Buckinghams were performing, an unnamed male Shames Web Site member re-intered the theater to listen to a favorite hit when he encountered an enthusiastic female fan (a cute one in a red dress) who encouraged him to dance. Well, having seen a similar scenario on T.V. before, and knowing that "Babs" would magically appear behind him if he did, the unnamed person opted to close the door and sit with G.L.O.R.I.A. and Al selling T-Shirts outside (he later went to a different door to listen to another hit).
A Guess-The-Chicago-Gold Musician Contest was started by our very own Shameless Girls when impromptu photos were taken after the concert. The details haven't all been worked out yet, but prizes from the Shames, Bucks and Ides' were discussed. Stay Tuned for more details. It is also rumored that our very own Jimmy P. (J.C. Hooke) is now the proud possessor of a shot glass from a defunct "equestrian" ranch in Nevada, which was a gift from a #1 fan.

Chicago Classics To The Rescue

Several Hurricane Katrina Benefit Concerts have been scheduled so far with the proceeds going to the American Red Cross. The first is spearheaded by Jim Pilster from The Cryan' Shames , and Carl Giamarese from The Buckinghams. It will be at the Star Plaza Theater on I-65 & U.S. 30 in Merrillville, IN. on October 2, 2005. In addition to The Cryan' Shames and The Buckinghams,it will also feature Ronnie Rice, Heartsfield, Dirty Dan & The Boyzz, M&R Rush and Deep River Band . The 2nd concert will be at the Bolingbrook Performing Arts Center at 375 W. Briarcliff Rd. in Bolingbrook, IL., on October 16, 2005. It will feature The Cryan' Shames, Jimy Rogers & The Mauds, .JPG, Hi Infidelity, and The Blooze Brothers. Further details are on the Events Page

Update on Star Plaza benefit Concert:

The Star Plaza benefit Concert was great! Besides the above listed Chicago Classic Bands, it also featured raffel prizes (which G.L.O.R.I.A. and Babs won a few of), a 50/50 drawing, and a silent auction of guitars from Ted Nugent and Queensreiche. Ronnie Rice was a one man band, and he kept the excitement rolling all through his performance. His Show Stopper was during The New Colony Six's hit song "Things I'd Like To Say" when a couple attempted to leave and Ronnie froze them in their tracks when he jokingly said "Hey,you can't leave yet, I'm not finished with the song", and then continued with the song without missing a lick.
The Cryan' Shames were all in top form and emotionally charged with their energy. Bob Stroud melted the ladies in the audience, and Jimmy Pilster dazzeled them while he circulated among the crowd. Jeff Rutter did some exceptionally nice guitar work on "Up On The Roof", and the rest of the Shames hits. The Buckinghams put on a great preformance which culminated in an All Star Jam with Jim Pilster and the Shames, and all of the Classic Groups which performed during the evening.
Jim Pilster and Carl Giamarese proved once again that they are born entertainers, and they did an excellent job of organizing this benefit concert. G.L.O.R.I.A. , Al & Marlene from The Cryan' Shames, and Susan from The Buckinghams ran the Band Memorabilia Concessions with the profits being donated to the benefit. This was a great concert!

Rescue The Rescuers October 16, 2005 Benefit Concert Update

This was a nice outdoor venue at the Bolingbook, IL. Performing Arts Center, which was highlighted by the performance of The Cryan' Shames , .JPG and Jimy Rogers and the Mauds.
The entire concert was filmed by the Community of Bolingbrook's TV crew. .JPG, was the opener which featured and electric performance by Jimmy, Jason and the pretty Peggy Ann... a woman of many voices. They are a trio of great musicians.Their encore of The Star Spangled Banner was a nice touch to their performance.
Hi Infidelity, and The Blooze Brothers followed, keeping the momentum going for a great concert. Jimy Rogers & The Mauds put on a great performance with his (2) new girl singers.
The Cryan' Shames featured a Blast From The Past with an exceptional job on vocals by Bob Stroud...especially on Sunshine Psalm. Jimmy can still spin a tambourine high in the air (and catch it),which produced a vision from the past for all present of J.C. Hooke ...a frozen moment in time revisited and relived.
Among the special guests in the audience were Dennis Conroy, and Debbie (Witek) Caldwell from the 1966-69 Cryan' Shames National Fan Club / Jack Doody Fan Club. There was a spontaneous reunion of the National Fan Club with Marlene O'Malley and G.L.O.R.I.A. Knuth. The Shames's encore was a Conga Line Dance with the members of the audience.
The concert ended with a special appearance with Mark Eskin from The New Colony Six in the ending jam sessions with tonight's performing artists.
A Pizza Party followed the concert at Jeff Rutter's house where everyone watched the White Sox Win!, and the Cryan' Shames Web Site was discussed with Bob Stroud, Jeff Rutter and Jim Pilster. Jeff is celebrating the arrival of his new grandson.
