Chicago Gold 2006 Update
The concert was Great! As the next day was Easter, the Web Site gave the Shames bunny ears to wear for the occasion, which were worn for a song (or two). Babs, G.L.O.R.I.A., and Susan from The Buckinghams were all wearing them at the T-Shirt table (and they all looked cute in them!). Dennis Conroy was there in the audience, and he visited with the Shames back stage after the concert.

News from Marlene and Di, our Website Reporters
I Went to the film premiere last night(February 9,2006)of "Player - A Rock & Roll Dream".....loved it! Somewhat similar to the WTTW Bob Sirott thing from a couple of years ago, but from a different bent....focused more on the "players"....and their reasons for being and doing what they do....very cool. It featured the Shames, the Mauds, the Shadows of Knight, a band called Shoes (that was big in Europe), and the Redwalls, which is a current band of young guys....one of whom definitely emulates John Lennon! In the film, they spoke with Jim Pilster, Bob Stroud, Clark Weber, Jimy Sohns, Jimy Rogers and Quent Lang from the Mauds, and some of the members of the other two bands (both of whom I thought played some really good music). They reminisced about the old days, and how they got a record played on the radio, and talked about how different it is today, and why they keep on doing it.....because it's part of them and they LOVE it!!! I especially enjoyed an acoustic version of "Satisfied" by Jimy Rogers, and as the song ended the camera just zoomed into his face, where he had a very "satisfied" smile! Definitely got the point across!!! It was fun to see some of the stuff the newer bands were doing, and how, regardless of the age or the times, these "players"' love for making music never changes! Jim Pilster was there, and the webmasters got a nice "Thank you" mentioned in the credits of the film! Hopefully the second showing will be in the near future......Babs...you would love the bits with Jimy Rogers....really cute! Later.

September 2nd, 2006 Bridgeview Concert
This was a special concert as it featured Clark Besch as the honored guest of The Cryan' Shames. Clark, who wrote the liner notes for all of The Cryan' Shames CDs, flew in from Lincoln, Nebraska to attend the concert. Besides receiving some nice introductions from the Shames and the Ides' Of March, Clark also visited backstage with all of the band members. The Ides' dedicated a song to Clark, with Bob Stroud and Jim Pilster performing. Some surprise guests in the audience were Alan Dawson - The Cryan' Shames drummer from their Synthesis CD and Mark Eskin - The New Colony Six's guitarist. Diane Raddatz from The Cryan' Shames web site handled the dinner arrangements for Clark Besch and the Shames at TGI Fridays in Oak Lawn before the concert. It was well planned and no one missed a thing at the concert Our thanks to Di for pulling this off! .Paul Wood was a surprise guest as he joined the Shames on guitar and keyboard for the concert.
Babs Baby....Babs was given the new middle nickname "Baby" by Jim Sohns of The Shadows Of Knight (for those who tuned in late, James Fairs hung the nickname "Babs" on our web mistress). Besides putting on a great show with The Shadows of Knight, Jim Sohns also introduced his grandson to the audience.
Our Chicago Gold Boys From Berwyn....The Ides' Of March put on an awesome show again! Their new DVD "A Vehicle Through Time , The Story Of The Ides' Of March - 40th Anniversary Concert" was showcased at their T-Shirt / CD table. A great job on vocals tonight (and every night!) by the Shames: Greg Brucker's "Jealous Guy", Bob Stroud's "We Could Be Happy" (and all of the other Shames songs), and Jimmy Pilster's "Pretzel Logic" and our favorite Paul Simon song which was accompanied with a conga line.
